On July 14th 1999, I joined the Seti Project which BTW, stands for "Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence". I am donating my unused CPU Cycles to the folks from UC Berkley who are performing the largest computer experiment in human history, that is I, and almost 3.5 million other kindred souls now operate the Largest Beowuff Cluster (Supercomputer) on the planet!

So...Sound Interesting? Wanna Join me?

It is Really Easy - All you have to do is download the SETI software by Left-Clicking on the "Get SETI" Icon on your left and then install it on your windows system. Next use your InterNET connection to log into UC Berkely's SETI Server and set up your account. When your account is established, you will get your first SETI packet. Now your computer will begin to process the SETI packet (6 hours to 3 days.) Initially, when your SETI packet is completely processed, your SETI software will ask you quite politely if it can connect and get it's next packet. You'll know when it is this time because the little green radar dish on your taskbar will be blinking red and green.

Later on when you are more comfortable with SETI, you may elect to allow SETI to connect to the InterNET and transmit it's completed packets itself. Mine does and I have my InterNET Connections set to terminate an inactive connection after 3 minutes, so SETI doesn't tie up my phone line all day.

You have the full use of your computer whenever you want, but when you aren't using it, you may elect to view the SETI screen saver and you'll be treated to a 3D Color-Rama festival as the SETI software graphically analyses your own little block of space. To totally work-over 350K of space, it takes me 7+ hours on my Athlon 800s..... And I note SETI actually processes significantly faster if you don't use the screen saver, but sometimes I like to watch...

So Are you Interested? There is still room for more volunteers!!! And who Knows? You might even get asked to name an Alien Species? At the Very least you'll get public credit as a Co-Discoverer if you find someone!

I am also Currently accepting new SETI Team Members on the PC Rescue SETI Team if anyone is interested! Just click on the PC Rescue Team STATs on your left and Click on the "Join" Button. Your SETI password is a long number, so use their "Find Password" prompt to Email yourself your SETI Password - Then come back to this page and Join my Team of Scientists of Radio Astronomy!!!
